The Mercedes GLK was produced between 2008 and 2015 and is a sharply designed car with almost no round shapes. Its successor, the GLC, is the exact opposite in terms of design. But the cars share many features, including full-fledged four-wheel drive in a compact crossover form, a very popular car class whose demand grew strongly during the late 2000s and early 2010s. The advantage is a higher ground clearance and thus easy entry and exit as well as good visibility of other road users and pedestrians. In terms of size, it qualifies for the same class as, among others, the Volvo XC60 and Volkswagen Tiguan (although the GLK is a model with a higher purchase price). The off-road trend was big in the late 2000s and the inspiration for the model was taken from the legendary GL-class, the "Geländewagen". At first, the model was only available as a four-wheel drive but later a rear-wheel drive version was also offered. The diesel engines, which are most common on the Swedish market, are either 220 or 320, which indicates engine size, cylinder capacity. Among the petrol-powered models, there is the smallest 280 up to the six-cylinder 350. In the usual order, the smallest engines are the most economical to run, while the larger six-cylinder engines require more. Mercedes-Benz has a long tradition of offering standard versions with a lower level of equipment and the GLK is no exception. Therefore, the price picture on the used market also varies greatly. For the 2012 model year, the model received an update with changes that mainly concern the front and rear.
