What was first an aircraft manufacturer in 1937 would one day become the car manufacturer Saab, which came into being in 1949. A lot has happened during the years that Saab has been one of the major Swedish car manufacturers, respected and popular worldwide. After many years of financial problems and being bought by various owners, the company finally went bankrupt in 2011. But it is important not to give up. Two years later, production of the 9-3 model resumed under the new owner NEVS, and it was not long before the last car rolled out of the factory in 2015.
Before Saab's bankruptcy, the American company General Motors and the Dutch Spyker had also tried to save the company. Some of the most famous models during Saab's existence in recent years have been the Saab 9–3 and the Saab 9–5. The Saab 900 and Saab 9000 were two very popular models during much of the 80s and 90s.
Earlier in the company's history, you can look back at the Saab 99 and Saab 96, both of which were popular in the 60s and 70s.
