The Suzuki Swift model name is relatively new in Europe and the first generation was launched in 2000 and is a so-called "supermini", among the smallest cars you can buy. It is most closely comparable to the Nissan Micra of the time, although the Swift was slightly lower in price on both the new car market and the used car market. This first generation measured approximately 3.4 meters in length and had five doors with a small luggage compartment. The reception of the new car model was moderate in the Nordic markets as fuel prices were still relatively low, around eight kronor per liter of 95-octane gasoline. In Japan, in the domestic market, things went even better at launch. A decade later, the time was right for the Suzuki Swift and by then the second generation of the car had already been launched in 2004, the interior and exterior dimensions were smaller and the car did not have the rear doors. At that time, the Swift with its 1.2-liter engine (gasoline-powered) was one of the world's most fuel-efficient passenger cars. It was heavily revised since the first generation and both the car's driving characteristics and interior were improved. Sales rose and exceeded targets and when the third generation was introduced in 2010, the Suzuki Swift was a well-established name. The quality of the details was further improved and the car had the same fuel-efficient entry-level engine as the previous generation. However, the purchase price rose slightly for the base version and a 2018 model year in the base version costs around 130,000 SEK. However, the Suzuki Swift has time, with rising fuel prices, on its side and the resale value is therefore good and the car model has a loyal group of drivers.
