More people are going on car holidays and the desire for a sense of freedom has caused the demand for convertibles to skyrocket. And we can't help but agree. There's nothing better than enjoying the Swedish summer in a summer car and feeling the wind blow hard.
Old classics like the BMW 3 Series, Mazda MX-5 and Porsche 911 are just a few of the models that have become more popular. Here we list five cabriolets that offer fun driving for a reasonable price.
BMW's most popular series went on sale in 1975 and has dominated the second-hand market in recent years. The classic E30 model is particularly popular with retro buyers. But the best-selling variant is also one of the more powerful, the 325i with 170 horsepower. Depending on the model year and condition, you can find a car for under 100,000 kronor.
The world's best-selling sports car, with over 1,500,000 units sold. The two-seater model is rear-wheel drive and comes with a vinyl top. The first model "NA" came on the market in 1990 and was inspired by two-seater roadsters from the 60s and 70s. Today, several models from the series can be found for around 50,000 kronor.
Volkswagen's classic car model was first produced as a convertible in 1979. With its transverse front engine and front-wheel drive, it has the same engine as the regular Volkswagen Golf. A convertible from the 80s is still very undervalued and you can easily get one for around 30,000 kronor. A bargain that may increase in value in the future.
In the mid-1960s, Porsche launched its now most famous model, the 911. Since then, it has been updated several times with more powerful engines and better performance. But it is possibly the model from the 1980s that has become the most sought-after and is now considered a collector's car. It is possible to find a car from both the 1980s and 1990s for around 300,000 kronor.
The C70 was the first modern convertible from Volvo and was introduced to the market in the mid-1990s. However, production was stopped completely in 2013 and the car model has not been manufactured since then. Despite this, there are several cars on the second-hand market. The price for an older version is just over 90,000 kronor, while one manufactured around 2010 can cost up to 190,000 kronor. Models from 2006 and later are equipped with three-part folding metal roofs. The roof can be raised and lowered in less than 30 seconds.
