The service light is on and you know it's getting close. Are you one of those who turn in their car right away or do you wait?
Most of us know that it is important to have your car serviced regularly. Following your car's service intervals not only gives you a safer and better car, you also create the conditions for the highest possible resale value.
The older the car gets, the more often it should be serviced. According to Ralph Sjöqvist, technical manager at Mekonomen , approximately every 1,500 km is a good interval to avoid major damage due to minor faults.
Replacing a fuel filter is usually not an expensive affair. However, if you skip replacing it, an old fuel filter can destroy the entire fuel system and cause damage of up to 60,000 SEK.
What about the oil? Use a good oil and change it relatively often!
The fact that cars are now equipped with advanced technology is often an advantage, but sometimes it can get a little crazy if you don't make sure to fix the original problem in time.
Ralph explains, among other things, that windshields with rain sensors are a feature to keep an eye on. In addition to “telling” the windshield wipers that it is raining, the brake discs are also activated so that they are braked slightly from time to time. Which is positive, the brake discs are kept dry and work better, but if the windshield is worn, the rain sensors can incorrectly perceive that it is raining, which leads to the brake discs being activated even though they are dry.
A worn windshield can eventually lead to the entire brake system having to be inspected and possibly replaced.
