Which profession drives which company car?

Is it possible to guess a person's profession based on the model of company car they drive? If so, who do you think drives a Tesla and who drives a VW Passat?

Volvo, Volvo, Volvo, a bit of Volkswagen and a bit of BMW. That's roughly how the distribution of company cars we drive in Sweden looks. The typical company car driver is a middle-aged man living in a suburb of one of our big cities and working as a salesperson, for example. But if we dig a little deeper, we can draw conclusions about which company cars are most common in different professions.

The transportation industry is different from the construction sector

The fact that a carpenter usually drives a van or pick-up truck as a work car is nothing new. If we look at what this professional group drives as a company car, the Volkswagen Passat and Volvo V90 stand out as common cars. Those who work in the construction sector with earthworks and foundation works also often drive a Passat or V90 as a company car. Those who build houses? Yes, even within this professional group, the Volkswagen Passat and Volvo V90 are the most common cars. If you work in the transport sector, you are more likely to drive a Mercedes E-Class, compared to the typical carpenter or ground worker.

Typical consultant car

When we change lanes and look at a completely different professional group, two other cars appear on the top list. The second most common car if you consult in business guidance is the Tesla 3. In third place we find the Volvo V60 and also in fifth place we find Tesla, then in the form of their Model S.

Common thread through several industries

It is actually possible to find a common favorite company car regardless of whether you work as a carpenter, a truck rental company or are a so-called Management Consultant: The Volvo XC60 seems to be popular in many different industries! And perhaps it is a low-odds one, the Volvo XC60 is often at the top of Sweden's best-selling car and so far this year alone we at Kvdbil have sold 563 copies of the popular SUV.
