This is how our travel habits change after corona

1 september, 2021

We cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that the car needs to be used in a sustainable way. In the fall of 2020, Kvdbil conducted a SIFO survey on Swedes' changing travel habits. The results showed that many believed they would travel more by car and bicycle after the pandemic.

When we asked the question again in September 2021, it was clear that more people would consider traveling by bus, train and plane than last fall, but also that the idea that people will use the car more after the pandemic persists.

In August, WSP published its major mobility study, which shows, among other things, that the pandemic has caused the number of public transport passengers to halve and that only half plan to return to taking public transport after the pandemic. Of those who have stopped taking public transport, a quarter plan to use cars even after the pandemic.

It is clear that the car has an important role for many people even after the pandemic and we need to work to ensure that the car is used in a sustainable way. Older car models need to be phased out in favor of new ones and we must accelerate electrification by ensuring that electric cars and plug-in hybrids reach the Swedish aftermarket and expand the charging infrastructure.
