Almost every tenth used car sold is now an electric car

Used electric cars are increasingly popular

We see that more and more cars that are sold through us are electrified. And that the desire to buy cars with a cable is also increasing. If we look at the used market in general, the figures also show a clear increase there.

During the quarter, sales of used electric cars increased by 23.8 percent compared to the same period last year. A total of 27,367 electric cars were sold, which corresponds to 9.7 percent of the market. It wasn't many years ago that the share was around two percent, notes Daniel Odsberg, sales manager at Kvdbil .

The electric car now comes in many forms

– Electric cars have in a short time gone from a narrow segment to becoming an obvious part of the used market. Today they are available in all price ranges, and the range has gone from being dominated by sedans to increasingly consisting of family cars and SUVs – car types that are in strong demand on the Swedish market.

At the same time, he believes that this is just the beginning.

– Now is the time for the shift to take place in earnest. In recent years, more and more new electric cars have been sold, and new registrations continue to increase rapidly. It usually takes three to four years before they reach the second-hand market, says Daniel Odsberg.

Plug-in hybrids and electric hybrids also increased, by 3.1 and 2.7 percent respectively, while sales of gasoline and diesel cars continued to decline. Gasoline cars fell by 10.4 percent and diesel by 5.0 percent.
