Porsche 911 voted the most stylish sports car of all time

We at Kvdbil in collaboration with Kantar Sifo, have asked Swedes to vote for the most beautiful sports cars in history. The result was an exciting mix of timeless classics and modern masterpieces. In first place? The iconic Porsche 911.

Which sports car is actually the most beautiful ever built? The question can be discussed for a long time, and of course there is no simple answer because everyone has their own taste. But we at Kvdbil wanted to investigate the matter anyway - is there perhaps a car we can agree on? With answers from over 1,300 people , the Porsche 911 came out on top.

– I am not surprised to see the Porsche 911 in first place. It is probably the sports car that most people know thanks to its iconic design. The Porsche 911 combines elegance and performance in a way that few other cars can match. For many, Porsche also stands for the highest quality, says Daniel Odsberg, Sales Manager at Kvdbil .

Bond car in second place

In second place we find the Aston Martin DB5, perhaps best known for its appearances in the James Bond films.

“Bond's fast and dramatic car chases have cemented the DB5 as one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. It's also a stunningly beautiful car that represents British engineering and style at the highest level,” says Odsberg.

Third place goes to the wild horse, the Ford Mustang. The American muscle car that has become a symbol of freedom and "life on the road" in film and television.

– The Ford Mustang captures the essence of American car culture with its raw power, its powerful appearance and its driving pleasure. It represents everything a muscle car should be. I dare say it is an immortal classic, says Odsberg.

But our opinions on what is a beautiful car can differ, as I said. Age seems to be a decisive factor. If those between the ages of 18-29 had been allowed to decide, the Ford Mustang would have ended up far down the list, at seventh place. Instead, they rank the Swedish supercar Koenigsegg Jesko as the third most beautiful of all time, after the Porsche 911 and Aston Martin DB5.

Tastes differ even more in the age groups 50-64 years and 65-79 years, where the Porsche 911 comes in third and fourth place respectively. The Aston Martin DB5 ranks highest on the list of 50-64 year olds, followed by the Swedish 60s classic Volvo P1800. The Volvo P1800 tops the list of 65-79 year olds, followed by the Jaguar E-Type and Ford Mustang. The Aston Martin DB5 is not at all popular with the oldest age group, where it only comes in ninth place.

“Many people probably find their favorite among the cars that were popular when they were growing up. But the Porsche 911 still seems to stand out. It's high on everyone's list,” says Daniel Odsberg.

Top 10 - most beautiful sports cars in history

Perhaps not only the most beautiful but also the most famous sports car of all time? The Porsche 911 was introduced in 1964 and has become a timeless classic over the years, constantly updated but always with the characteristic design.

A classic sports car, beloved for its smooth lines and iconic silhouette. Introduced back in 1948, the Porsche 356 holds a special place in automotive history as Porsche's first production model.

6. Jaguar E-Type

Often called the most beautiful car ever, with its sweeping lines and elegant proportions, the Jaguar E-Type has to settle for sixth place.

7. Koenigsegg Jesko

A modern supercar from Ängelholm that combines extreme performance with futuristic design. With a top speed of over 480 km/h and revolutionary aerodynamics, the Jesko is an impressive fusion of innovation and power. Representing Swedish engineering at its absolute best.

About the survey
The survey was conducted in Kantar Media's web panel (Sifopanelen) during the period 4–8 January 2024. A total of 1316 people aged 18-79 were interviewed, of which 1055 had access to a car. The web panel is nationally representative and recruited based on random selection. There is no self-recruitment in Kantar Media's web panel (Sifopanelen).
